Iran Will Get A State Visit From China’s Xi

When the Iranian leader’s three-day visit to China came to an end, Beijing’s foreign ministry announced that Chinese President Xi Jinping will pay a state visit to Iran.

According to a joint statement from both nations, Xi “gladly accepted the invitation” sent by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, but no specific time was mentioned.

Xi would be making his first trip to Iran since 2016.

Strong commercial links exist between Beijing and Iran, which also agreed to a 25-year “strategic cooperation deal” in 2021.

Although Iran is subject to severe US sanctions because of its nuclear program, both countries are under pressure from Western countries owing to their stances on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

In a statement released on Thursday, Iran said that the 2015 nuclear agreement’s “ensuring Iran’s economic benefits” was a “essential aspect” and that America was to responsible for the present hostilities and asked for the lifting of the sanctions.

It demanded that the pact, from which the US withdrew in 2018, under then-president Donald Trump, be “fully and efficiently implemented.”

According to official broadcaster CCTV, Xi lauded Beijing’s “solidarity” with Iran on Tuesday and the two nations’ cooperation “in the face of the present complicated changes in the globe, periods, and history.”

According to Xi, China “supports Iran in preserving its national sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, and national dignity… and in battling hegemony and unilateralism.”
