While stealing high-tension wire, a man was electrocuted.
|A middle-aged man named Ezekiel was electrocuted in the Federal Capital Territory’s Utako neighborhood while attempting to steal a high-tension wire.
The incident happened late on a Saturday.
Ezekiel suffered severe burns as a result of the incident, according to a commercial driver who only wanted to be known as Hassan who spoke to our correspondent on Sunday.
He declared, “Ezekiel, a man, was electrocuted this early morning. He was electrocuted while attempting to steal a wire from a high-tension cable owned by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company.
“We heard the man’s scream in the night along with the sound of an electrical spark.
“I would have assumed that he intended to commit suicide if it weren’t for the fact that a saw, pliers, and torchlight were scattered on the ground. But he went there for a mission equipped with those tools. The man had multiple burn injuries but was fortunate not to have died.
Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident.
