The Labour Party Is Engaged in Serious Corruption

The Labour Party’s hopes of doing well in the polls for the 2023 election are under peril less than five weeks after the PCC was established, according to suspicions of corruption.

Arabambi Abayomi, the party’s national publicity secretary, claimed in an exclusive interview with THISDAY that Doyin Okupe and other party members were involved in a grand conspiracy against him. He also vowed to expose Okupe and other party members for allegedly diverting funds intended to support the party’s presidential election.

But the party has vowed to retaliate against the National Publicity Secretary if she opposes it in the run-up to the 2023 election.

The National Chairman of the party, Julius Abure, and the National Organizing Secretary of the party, Chief Clement Ojukwu, who also served as the General Secretary of the PCC, received a vote of no confidence from the Ogun State Chapter of the Labour Party during separate press conferences last week.

The Ogun State chapter also sought the immediate dissolution of the whole party’s PCC due to an alleged imbalance in its membership, highlighting the fact that, contrary to what was stated in the party constitution, the membership of its PCC did not represent the federal character.

Arabambi, who has been away from Labour Party events ever since the party’s PCC was installed, told THISDAY that Okupe was the source of his complaints, accusing him of bringing corruption into the party.

Arabambi stated that ever since he demanded that Okupe return the N50 million that former president Goodluck Jonathan donated to the Labour Party for the 2015 election, his life has been in danger.
