The hunt for the abducted cop is still underway.

The female officer Lieutenant PP Johnson was kidnapped on December 26, 2022, when she was visiting her grandmother in Aku-Okigwe, Imo State, according to a statement released by the Nigerian Army High Command yesterday.

Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the army’s spokesperson, revealed this information in a statement made accessible to journalists. “The Nigerian Army (NA) has been alerted to some publications circulating in the social media suggesting the rescue of Johnson, who was kidnapped on Monday, December 26, 2022, while visiting her grandmother in Aku-Okigwe in Imo State, shortly after completing her cadet training and subsequently being commissioned as a Lieutenant into the Nigerian Army.

“A video of her kidnapping had surfaced on social media, with her kidnappers claiming that it was part of their struggle for Biafra against the Nigerian State. It is telling that the officer’s status as a woman and a South Eastern Nigerian citizen did not stop her captors from dehumanizing her in their callous effort to perpetrate atrocities while pretending to be fighting for Biafra.

This clearly serves as yet another example of the many atrocities that IPOB/ESN are doing against Ndigbo, the people for whom they claim to be fighting for their liberation. Therefore, it should be abundantly evident to anybody who is still unsure about the actual nature of these organizations that IPOB/ESN are terrorist organizations disguising themselves as freedom fighters, and they do not merit the support of anyone, especially the nice people of South East Nigeria.

The NA wants to clarify that the rumors are unfounded since the officer has not yet been freed or delivered from her captors. The video footage that is being shared and linked to the rescue story is also an old clip of a suspect who was previously apprehended by military.

“As much as we appreciate the public’s concern and goodwill for her safe recovery, we also want to point out that the information about the officer’s rescue did not come from the NA.

“The Nigerian Army would stop at nothing to rescue the officer and bring those responsible to justice. We make an appeal to the public to provide trustworthy information that might result in her safe rescue and the capture of the criminals.
