Raheem: NBA Demands $5 Billion For Family Of Slain Lawyer

According to a statement from the Nigerian Bar Association, the family of deceased Lagos attorney Mrs. Omobolanle Raheem, who was shot by a police officer, would get at least N5 billion in compensation (NBA).

According to a statement released on Thursday, December 29, a group that will be following the police officer’s trial will be headed by NBA Lagos Branch member and rights campaigner Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN).

The NBA Lagos, together with NBA President Mr. Y.C. Mikyau, SAN, decided to take part in the prosecution of the policeman as part of its efforts to provide prompt and effective justice for the family of the deceased, according to the statement.

The NBA and the Ministry of Justice will work together on this throughout the trial.

“Mr. Adegboruwa has also acquired the promises of an expedited prosecution once the case file is received from the police,” says the Hon. Attorney-General of Lagos State.

Through its Human Rights Committee, the NBA is also requesting financial support for Mrs. Raheem’s family from the Lagos State government, the federal government, and even the Nigerian Police Force and the Police Service Commission.

In addition to prosecuting the killing officer, the NBA “will seek reimbursement of damages not less than five billion naira.”
