Police deny allegations that explosives were put in FCT

On Saturday in Abuja, the police denied media allegations that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) was overrun by explosive explosives.

The claim was false, and CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the force’s public relations officer, asked Nigerians to dismiss it in a statement.

“It is shocking and depressing to learn that explosives are being put in every part of the FCT through the news and social media.

“It is regrettable that the story is even coming from those people who are thought to be national unifiers and peace ambassadors.

In his words, “I don’t believe it would do our nation any good to continuously broadcast such frightful rumors to further incite further terror among citizens and residents of the FCT and Nigeria at large.”

He claims that the FCT is secure, there is no immediate danger, and it is not overrun with explosives as has been reported in the media.

Therefore, he encouraged people in the FCT and across Nigeria to dismiss the story as false.

Adejobi said that the news was allegedly sponsored in order to instill fear in people and stoke political unrest.

He declared that the police will keep using all practical operational techniques to crush the operations of other criminal groups and non-state actors in the nation.
