Oyetola Was The Cause Of It. The Aregbesola

The state’s worrying debt profile was exposed by Governor Ademola Adeleke, and former Osun governor Rauf Aregbesola has lambasted his replacement Adegboyega Oyetola for it.

Adeleke said that Osun owes N407.32 billion and attributed the debt to Oyetola’s government.

Oyetola, however, refuted the claim and said Aregbesola’s government had indeed acquired the loans.

On Friday, the Osun House of Assembly said it will look into the debt profile by asking financial institutions for further information.

Aregbesola said that Oyetola created the issue for himself since he reportedly refused to work with Adeleke for a good handover in a statement released by his media assistant on Saturday.

He emphasized that the Osun Accountant-General should be in a better position to provide the exact specifics of the State’s debt, adding that Adeleke and Oyetola were at a standstill and he should not get involved.

He said that although the other loans were long-term concessional facilities provided by the Federal Government with very little monthly charges, the two big loans he had taken had been repaid.
