In Kebbi, a policeman stabs his coworker to death.
According to the Kebbi State Police Command, ASP Shu’aibu Sani Malumfashi, shown above, was fatally stabbed by ASP Abdullahi Garba, a fellow officer.
In a statement released on October 27, 2022, the command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Abubakar, claimed that the state commissioner of police, CP Kontagora, had directed a comprehensive inquiry to determine the circumstances of the occurrence.
The PPRO claims that on October 19, 2022, following a fight between the two people in the fishing village region of Argungu town, Garba stabbed Malumfashi with a scissor.
After being taken by ambulance to a hospital in Birnin Kebbi, a doctor there declared ASP Malumfashi dead.
Prior to his passing, Late Malumfashi served as Divisional Crime Officer 11 at the Argungu Divisional Police Station in Kebbi.
The incompetent officer, according to Mr. Abubakar, was placed into police custody while the case was forwarded to the Homicide division for a covert investigation.
According to the statement, “On the 19th of October 2022 at approximately 1410 hours, one ASP Abdullahi Garba, Officer in Charge, Sauwa Police Out Post, had an altercation with ASP Shu’aibu Sani Malumfashi, a Divisional Crime Officer II, Argungu Divisional Police Headquarters, inside fishing Village area, Argungu town.”
“As a result, they got into a physical altercation in front of ASP Abdullahi Garba’s store. ASP Abdullahi Garba stabbed ASP Shu’aibu Sani Malumfashi in the left ribs with a scissor while they were fighting.
“Upon learning of the incident, Divisional Police Officer Argungu acted quickly to respond to the report, collect the exhibit, detain the negligent officer, and transport ASP Shu’aibu Sani Malumfashi to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital in Birnin Kebbi, where a doctor sadly confirmed his demise.
“As a result, the incompetent police officer, ASP Abdullahi Garba, was promptly detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Birnin Kebbi and placed under arrest. The case was also forwarded to the Homicide section for a covert investigation to ascertain the details of the obscene incident.
“In light of the foregoing, Kebbi State Command Commissioner of Police, CP. Ahmed Magaji Kontagora, has appointed a group of senior police officers to offer condolences to the family and friends of the deceased police officer. He also prays that Asp Shu’aibu Sani Malunfashi’s gentle soul may find eternal peace.
The erring Officer’s actions were denounced by CP Ahmed Magaji Kontagora as being against police doctrine, the police act and regulations, as well as other pertinent legislation of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Similar to that, the CP issues a warning to the officers and members of the command to always get along with one another and to report any grievances to the proper departments of the force for resolution rather than turning to self-help.
Last but not least, CP Ahmed Magaji Kontagora guarantees the public that justice will be served in the case inquiry and that the findings of the investigation will be made public.
