Nnamdi Kanu Requests N20 Billion in Restitution

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of IPOB, has demanded N20 billion in restitution from Abubakar Malami, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.

After becoming the target of allegedly libelous and defamatory statements, Kanu requested restitution.

Aloy Ejimakor, the leader of IPOB, claimed Malami’s assertion that he jumped bail despite a court order clearing him was libelous in a statement made through his Special Counsel.

Remember that on September 10, 2017, the military broke into Kanu’s home in Isiama Afaraukwu Ibeku, Abia State, causing him to flee the country.

Kanu’s basic human rights were allegedly violated during the claimed invasion, which was denied.

However, the courts determined that the invasion was unjust, unconstitutional, and illegal.

Malami was cited as stating the following in response to the subject:

Whether to reveal anything or not Nnamdi Kanu is an example of how the rule of law and the law work. When deciding whether to release or not release, one considers the rule of law, another considers the public interest and the national interest, a third considers the security situation, and a fourth considers international diplomacy.

“Let me begin by discussing the rule of law. Due to allegations that have been brought against him in court, this person has been granted bail. A case of a fugitive is established against the background of someone jumping bail to the international community.

“Two, arising out of national security, this is someone who is charged with treason, incitement and overthrow of civil authority, murder and assassination of others on account of his incitement, which comes down to matters of criminality and national security.

“Three, because of international diplomacy, this is someone who has launched an attack against a nation, specifically against his nation, using the international community or a foreign country.
