Nigerian Woman Still Missing After Jumping Into Lagos Lagoon
On Thursday, he leapt into the Lagos Lagoon and is still missing.
As search and rescue efforts went on into Friday, she has still not been located.
After a phone fight with her fiancé, the woman allegedly got out of a vehicle and dove into the lagoon.
According to a statement released on Thursday by Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the permanent secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, the taxi driver claimed that she was engaged in a heated argument with her fiancé when she got out of the car and dove into the lagoon.
In order to find the victim, members of the Department of State Services, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, and LASWA are now collaborating on the scene.
In a further confirmation on Friday, Oke-Osanyintolu said that the search and rescue crew was still in the water looking for the victim.
Amodu Shakiri, the public education officer for the Lagos State Fire Service, said that the search had been unsuccessful since the victim’s corpse had not yet been located.
“We resumed search and rescue efforts today, but there is currently no progress,” he added. As soon as we finish our activities, we will issue a formal declaration.
Gbenga Omotosho, the commissioner for information and strategy, also verified the news.
“No progress at this time,” he said. The corpse of the victim has not been located.
The victim, identified as Adetutu, was a Department of State Services employee, according to sources cited by Channels Television in the DSS office, who also claimed that Adedokun worked as an instructor of unarmed combat. Additionally, it was said that she just got engaged.
Adedokun, who is in her late 30s, was reportedly recognized as the best unarmed combat operative in her set a few months ago in a letter of commendation from the director general of the DSS.
It was also said that the victim’s fiance had just recently gotten engaged to her.
On Thursday afternoon, she had exited an Uber taxi on the bridge before diving into the lagoon.
