Lagos takes action to speed up response to crises and deaths

To enhance and speed up reaction times to catastrophes in the state, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has planned to purchase additional specialized equipment.

Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, the permanent secretary of LASEMA, made this announcement yesterday during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sandeco, a private company hired to provide the agency with equipment.

On Christmas Day, according to Oke-Osanyintolu, his organization responded quickly to more than ten significant incidents.

He advised locals to always abide by safety laws and regulations.

The head of LASEMA reaffirmed the dedication of the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led government to ensure appropriate protection of life and property both on waterways and on land, with the increased investment in LASEMA team member capacity-building and equipment presently.

Mr. Vincent Sothey Effiong, Chief Executive Officer of Sandeco, said that all the equipment his business would be providing to LASEMA will be of the highest caliber to facilitate the responders in carrying out their duties.
