In Lagos, the NSCDC detains a rape suspect

The anti-human trafficking and gender unit of the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has detained male, 24, Oyo native Akinbode Ridwan, who resides in Bariga, Lagos, as part of efforts to eradicate the nation of recurrent cases of sexual assault, domestic violence, and other related offenses.

The suspect was apprehended, according to the command’s public relations officer, Abolurin Oluwaseun, after careful investigation and actionable information was gathered on him by the command’s staff after the incident was reported to the aforementioned unit last week.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect first had a sexual encounter with his victim (name withheld) when she was 15 years old, in an unfinished building where he frequently lured her. He then made another attempt on her in October of this year, which resulted in his arrest. “The Anti-human trafficking and Gender Unit of the Command, through its significant relationships with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), human rights organizations, and other pertinent institutions, was able to identify the victim.

The unholy sexual entanglement was disapproved of by the NSCDC, Lagos State Commandant, Commandant of Corps (CC), Edenabu Okoro Eweka, who also directed that the suspected offender be turned over to the relevant government agency for further investigation and legal prosecution.
