How My Pregnant Wife Was Shot Dead By A Policeman On Christmas Day

The grieving spouse of the lawyer who was slain on Christmas Day in the Ajah neighborhood of Lagos State by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Drambi Vandi has described the terrible situation.

When the police officer shot and murdered Bolanle Raheem, she was 41 years old and seven months pregnant.

According to reports, ASP Vandi, who was assigned to the Ajiwe Police Station in Ajah, Lagos State, has served in law enforcement for 33 years.

On Boxing Day, Mr. Raheem addressed to sympathizers who had come to the family’s home in the Lagos State neighborhood of Ajah.

He said: “On December 25, my wife, nieces, nephews, and relatives who had arrived for the holiday attended church together. My wife suggested that we take everyone out because it was Christmas Day on the way home, so we stopped at a store in Abraham Adesanya before going to Domino’s Pizza.

“After that, we moved in the direction of Ajah before doing a U-turn to return to Abraham Adesanya. We saw police officers halting several cars as we made the U-turn. They told us to stop as we got close to them, and as we did, my wife’s side window made a loud noise. I then saw blood pouring out of her chest.

My sister-in-law, who was with us, also instantly raced outside and grabbed the policeman; he pointed his pistol at her as well. Since talking to him was ineffective, I went to see if anything could be done. While there, my sister-in-law had already taken the policeman into the vehicle and seated him in the front seat when I saw my wife struggling to breathe.

“We brought her to a hospital, but they stated they couldn’t handle it; finally, we got her to Grandville Hospital, where it was determined that she had passed away. Police officers grabbed her corpse and placed it in a truck; they wanted me to accompany them, but I declined and said I had to go settle my kids first.
