For Christmas, Ogun State FRSC deploys 1, 870 officers.

Prior to the Christmas and New Year’s festivities, the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said that 1,870 men, including regular and special marshals, had been deployed.

According to the Ogun FRSC, the soldiers were sent to monitor traffic operations on important state routes, including the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. Other roads include the Ota-Idiroko international corridor, Sagamu-Ijebu Ode, Sagamu-Mosinmi-Ikorodu, Abeokuta-Sagamu, Abeokuta-Ibadan, and Ifo-Sango-Ota-Lagos.

The 2022 Ember Months Special Patrol Operations, according to the FRSC headquarters, will begin on December 20, 2022, and last through Sunday, January 15, 2022.

Florence Okpe, an FRSC representative in Ogun State, stated that the special patrol operations would target speeding, route violations, dangerous driving, wrongful overtaking, overloading, use of expired or fake tires, lane indiscretion, use of a phone while driving, seat belt violations, unlatched cargo, and the use of drugs or alcohol while driving.

Okpe reports that for the Yuletide operation, 46 police cars, 10 advanced life-support ambulances, 8 patrol motorcycles, 4 heavy-duty tow trucks, and other tools have been deployed.

“Motorists traveling during this time to celebrate with their loved ones are advised to exercise extra caution and make sure their trips are well planned and that their vehicles are regularly serviced. They are also advised to pay close attention to construction zones where overtaking is prohibited and the maximum speed limit is 50 km/h, especially at construction zones where traffic is diverted,”

He spoke.

Meanwhile, Ahmed Umar, the sector commander for the FRSC, has urged drivers in Ogun and Nigeria to exercise caution and abstain from risky maneuvers, particularly on the newly inaugurated Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
