Don’t give up on Nigeria, Obasanjo Is Begged by CUPP

In order to achieve a smooth transition during the general elections in 2023, the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) in Nigeria has urged former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo not to lose up on Nigeria.

In a courtesy visit to the former president at his Penthouse apartment within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Ogun State, CUPP Spokesperson Ikenga Ugochinyere made this statement.

Ugochinyere claimed in a statement released on Friday by Kehinde Akinyemi, Special Assistant to Obasanjo on Media, that the visit had become crucial in order to update “the Father of Nigeria” on the situation, particularly in light of his most recent findings regarding an alleged attempt by the ruling party to tamper with the electoral process.

The CUPP Spokesperson said that it had been his desire to see the former President “and convey the political situation, notably the alleged plot by the governing party to rig the election and then plunge the nation into disarray.”

“I have therefore gone to visit him (Obasanjo) and urge him to continue to support Nigeria, just as he is doing for Africa, and not give up on it. Through his advocacy both before and after 2023, he should make sure that there is a peaceful transition. He should also pressure the government to hold next elections that are free, fair, and credible, according to Ugochinyere.

Ugochinyere said, “I came to thank him for his contributions to securing peace in Africa and to let him know that I would be standing in the election and request his fatherly blessings.”

He stated:

“Baba has been in Ethiopia during the last few days, traveled to the Congo to encourage investment, and then returned to South Africa to finish his peace mission. We are requesting that he do the same in Nigeria.

As we go closer to 2023, “Baba must devote considerable attention to Nigeria to guarantee that democracy and peaceful transition of power is realized.”

When Ugochinyere said, “Baba listened attentively and seriously to my letter and one after the other, he answered to all my pleas,” he may have been implying that Obasanjo’s reaction uplifted his spirits for the nation. In short, he committed to step in when necessary to ensure a peaceful transition by 2023.
