The death of Chief (Mrs.) Comfort Titilola Adesoye-mother, Orija’s who died away on December 28, 2022, has been reported by her family.

The statement was made yesterday by Adesoye-son, Orija’s an artist living in Britain named Lanre Olagoke. He claimed his mother passed away peacefully in her Oyo townhouse in the early hours of December 28, 2022, at the age of 84.

Olagoke claims that more over 20 years ago, the late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, the Alaafin of Oyo, appointed Adesoye-Orija as the Iya-Laje of Oyo.

Mama had a fulfilling life as a devoted Christian, philanthropist, and close member of her direct and extended families.

While we shall miss her, God is ultimately the greatest. He said, “May her soul find peace.

The late Alaafin was a major supporter of the Chief Adesoye-Orija-founded Oranyan Heritage Foundation (OHF), which she led until her death. Her work on the Museum of Black Women in History, which the Alaafin unveiled in 2020 as part of celebrations for the monarch’s 50th anniversary as Oyo king, will be remembered.

The founder of OHF was born in Lagos on March 18, 1939, the first child of Late Mr. Edward Omolaja Orija and Late Julianah Omolara Orija. He is also the first grandchild of Papa Samuel Bamigboye Orija. Her mother (née Adeyemi John) was of Oyo heritage, while her father was from Abeokuta.

She was raised among many other well-known people, including His Imperial Majesty Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, the Alaafin of Oyo, and Late Lanre John, who all resided with Late Sir Kofoworola Abayomi, her mother’s uncle, under the tutelage of her aunt, a famous teacher, the Late Mrs. Aina David.
