Real Madrid “wants Caicedo from Brighton to replace Modric and Kroos”

Moises Caicedo, a highly regarded player from Brighton, has apparently been chosen by Real Madrid to replace Luka Modric, a club icon.

With the Seagulls now sitting ninth in the league standings, the Ecuadorian’s midfield performances have received widespread praise. He has started every Premier League game they have played thus far.

His impressive performances may soon earn him a well-paying transfer to Madrid, but Brighton will be hopeful that the Ecuadorian’s high value will keep him at the Amex through this summer.

The Brighton star has reportedly been chosen by Madrid president Perez to replace seasoned midfielder Luka Modric, who is expected to depart the club in the next several seasons, according to Fichajes.

The physical prowess, technical proficiency, pace, and adaptability of Caicedo throughout the midfield are believed to have impressed the Spanish heavyweights.

Caicedo’s name has now been added to the list of prospective midfield alternatives for next summer, joining Jude Bellingham, Florian Wirtz, Enzo Fernández, and Bruno Guimaraes.

Brighton will however be hopeful that their £68 million value of the 21-year-old would be sufficient to frighten off Madrid from making an offer.

His youth, the three years left on his current contract, and the fact that he is seen as an important member of their club all contribute to the hefty price tag.

According to a September story, ex-Brighton manager Graham Potter was prepared to provide Caicedo a new, lucrative contract in an effort to ward off any transfer speculation. Man United and Arsenal are said to be interested in the midfielder.

Potter has now left the team to join Chelsea, but Caicedo’s new manager, Roberto De Zerbi, is likely to feel the same way about the issue.

The midfielder’s stated weekly salary is £10,000, making him one of the team’s lowest earners, but the organization was prepared to grant a pay increase to the region of £60,000.

With Danny Welbeck and Adam Lallana, he would be among the highest-paid players on the team.

In the summer, Caicedo was again mentioned in connection with Manchester United, Arsenal, and Liverpool, but he stayed at Brighton.

Caicedo was acquired by Brighton from Independiente del Valle in August 2021 for a sum of £3.6 million.

With just one error in 22 games for the Seagulls, his value has increased dramatically since moving to the Premier League.
