The Person Who Advised Mesut Ozil To Choose Real Madrid Over Barcelona Is Revealed.

Mesut Ozil, a former Arsenal midfielder, has credited AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho for persuading him to choose Real Madrid over Barcelona in the past.

Ozil said that Mourinho’s approach and the fact that he took him to some of Real Madrid’s most picturesque locations persuaded him to choose La Blancos over Barcelona.

The former Germany international, who just declared his retirement from the game, transferred from Werder Bremen to Real Madrid in the summer of 2010.

While addressing Marca, Ozil said:

Real Madrid and Barcelona were competing for the decision. And in the end, it had nothing to do with money.

“I don’t know whether this is known, but at the time I visited Madrid and Barcelona, and Jose Mourinho made a difference. I had a VIP visit from Mou [Mourinho] at Real Madrid.

“He brought me to the stadium to view all the awards they had received. It made my skin crawl.

“The trip to Barcelona was less exciting, and it was even more disheartening that Pep Guardiola didn’t make an effort to meet with me,”

Jose Mourinho was unquestionably the most significant element in Ozil’s choice, he said. My choice to become a Madridista was quite evident after my travels.

In 2013, Ozil finally left Real Madrid to join the dominant Arsenal of the Premier League.
