Rio Ferdinand, a former England great, thinks Martin Odegaard, the captain of Arsenal, may be lured by a future transfer to Barcelona.

Ferdinand was gushing with admiration for Norwegian star Odegaard and his leadership of Arsenal’s campaign for the Premier League championship.

With eight goals and five Premier League assists from midfield for Mikel Arteta’s team in 2022–23, the former Real Madrid schemer has been crucial.

Odegaard, who struggled to make an impression with Los Blancos, has reportedly been Ferdinand’s choice for Premier League Player of the Season so far because of his spectacular career reversal.

Despite his significance to Arsenal, Ferdinand said that Odegaard would continue to be a transfer target for other top European clubs in the years to come, with Barcelona perhaps being a possibility.

“Odeegaard is my player of the year if Haaland slows down scoring goals, Arsenal wins the league, and he keeps playing like this.

“He just visits places like Barca, and that’s all. If they enter, the discourse changes.

Although Arsenal supporters may not like Ferdinand’s remarks, they have no immediate worries over Odegaard’s future intentions since he is under contract with the North London giants until 2025.
