Prior To The Real Madrid Match, Graham Potter Praises Carlo Ancelotti

The prospect of playing Real Madrid in Champions League competition next month excites Chelsea manager Graham Potter.

After defeating Borussia Dortmund in the first round, Potter’s Premier League heavyweights were drawn to play Los Blancos in the quarterfinal round.

The two teams will clash in the Champions League knockout round for the third consecutive season when they take on Real Madrid.

Prior to Carlo Ancelotti’s team staging an astonishing comeback in the quarterfinals of the previous season, Thomas Tuchel’s Blues defeated Real Madrid in the 2020–21 semifinals.

After a shaky start to 2023, Potter’s form has improved recently, and he is prepared for the possibility of a matchup with the reigning champs.

“The emotion is one of excitement, however, you can always lose in the quarter final, That’s the nature of the Champions League”, as per an interview with Chelsea’s official website.

“When we get there, we’ll concentrate on Real Madrid.

“I don’t personally know Ancelotti, but I played against him when he was at Everton.

He’s a gentleman, I know that. It goes without saying that I have a great deal of respect for him and his incredible accomplishments. The gap of 20 years between Champions League victories is astonishing.

On April 12, Chelsea will travel to Madrid for the opening leg of their match, with the return leg taking place on April 19 at Stamford Bridge.

Whoever advances to the semifinals will play one of Bayern Munich or Manchester City in the next round.
