Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, believes his tenure will “definitely” be evaluated on whether he takes the team to its first Champions League championship, even if he “doesn’t agree” with that assessment.
Since Guardiola became manager in 2016, City has won nine significant trophies.
Guardiola was questioned whether failing to lead City to victory in Europe’s top cup tournament would be considered a failure of his tenure.
The Spaniard, 52, added, “I’ll be evaluated on it. That doesn’t mean I agree with it.
“Many thought I was coming here to win the Champions League before my first match [with City].
“I asked, “What? ” I’m not sure, but I’m okay with it. No matter what I go through, nothing will change.
