Rio Ferdinand, a former captain of Manchester United, said Lisandro Martinez is now the best center back in the Premier League. Since joining the Red Devils from Ajax in the summer, Martinez has been an essential member of the team, making 30 appearances and scoring once.

Height (5ft 7in) was noted as a potential issue for the 25-year-old when it came to playing in England’s top division.

Ferdinand, however, has said that Erik ten Hag, the manager of Man United, never allows the Argentina international to be left alone, which has helped him to succeed in the Premier League.

On his VIBE with FIVE podcast, Ferdinand said, “On form right now, I don’t believe there’s really any dispute coming from anywhere else.”

“I consider him to be a leader who is assertive, dominating, good at communicating, moral, and present in crucial situations.

“But I was among those who questioned whether he would be physically able to compete here if teams isolated him.

“This is where Erik ten Hag has been confident in his tactical ability to prevent opponents from being able to isolate someone like Martinez by controlling enough possession.

“And he hasn’t been revealed in that manner up until now. Are we not sitting there regularly, week after week, saying, There’s a persistent issue there. Someone keeps pulling out on him, climbing on top of him, or physically abusing him.
