Bandits Murder Eight People In A Town In Benue

Eight people, including women and children, have been murdered by bandits in a hamlet near the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Abagena, Makurdi Local Council, Benue State.

A witness informed reporters that eight other people were critically hurt in the incident on Thursday and were brought to a hospital for treatment.

Some of the victims had their heads removed after being decapitated, he said. More victims are still being sought for by combing the woods.

“In the assault, a man, his wife, and four children perished.

Three more people were shot, and it’s possible that their chest wounds will prevent them from surviving, thus the number of casualties might increase.

The incident was verified by SP Sewuese Anene, spokesperson for the Benue police, who also said that the number of casualties was yet unknown. He said that in order to prevent other assaults, the police had sent officers to the area.
