Sergio Ramos expresses “hopefulness” of being selected for Spain’s World Cup team.

After an injury-plagued year, PSG defender Sergio Ramos says he is optimistic of being selected for Spain’s World Cup team this month and that he “feels good again.”

The Real Madrid icon, 36, hasn’t played for his country since a World Cup qualifier on March 31, 2021, and he was left out of Euro 2020 as manager Luis Enrique relied on a fresh group of defenders, including Pau Torres and Eric Garcia.

Ramos claims he is secure in his physical condition after returning to form for PSG and has a fresh desire to play for Spain after overcoming his fitness concerns that hampered his first season at the Parc des Princes.

He informed the journalists, “Everyone understands what it means to protect those colors.” “I feel well again and ready, but ultimately everything depends on Luis Enrique, who I much respect. I’m still really excited to come back and participate in this World Cup. I’m hoping to go to Qatar.

Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, he also revealed his struggles with injuries over the previous season.

I had a lot of issues last year, and I also had to adjust to a new club after spending almost all of my life at Real Madrid. I have had relatively few injuries during the course of my career. I never believed it was the end at any point.

Life offers us with problems, and if anything gives my way of being significance, it’s my work, my character, and my endurance.

“I adore this sport, and I believe I have years remaining at the greatest level.” When you put so much effort into anything, you eventually reap the benefits.

This season, Ramos has made 17 appearances for the dominant Ligue 1 club, including 10 starts in the league and five in the Champions League.

He has already participated in more games this season than he did all of last season, a hint that his fitness concerns are already over.

Ramos is among the most successful defenders in the annals of the sport, having helped Real Madrid win the Champions League four times and LaLiga five times. Additionally, he has won three UEFA Super Cups and four Club World Cups.
