Ronaldinho Names Ballon d’Or Winner for 2023

Argentina’s captain Lionel Messi has been selected by Brazilian icon Ronaldinho as the winner of the 2023 Ballon d’Or.

On December 18, Messi hoisted this year’s World Cup, marking the pinnacle of his professional football career.

In a penalty shootout, Argentina beat France at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar.

Messi scored twice in the last five minutes of regulation, and Ronaldinho thinks it merits his taking home the 2023 Ballon d’Or.

Ronaldinho stated the following to SDA:

“I believe Lionel Messi will win the Ballon d’Or because he [Messi] was able to score two goals in the championship game and claim his first World Cup victory.

“This will further cement your place in history.”

Added he,

“Yes, Messi and Mbappe both have amazing talent. They have more than met the high standards set for them; they have once again shown that they are exceptional players. They added to this championship with their extraordinary skill.
