Morocco Protests Against the Semi-Final Referee
|The Moroccan football federation (FMRF) has complained to Fifa, the international football governing body, regarding the refereeing during Morocco’s World Cup semi-final loss to France on Wednesday in Qatar.
The FMRF is upset that Mexican referee Cesar Ramos did not give the North Africans a penalty in the first half after Theo Hernandez collided with Sofiane Boufal in the vicinity.
Ramos penalized winger Boufal for a foul rather than giving the penalty kick that many observers thought was deserved.
The dragging down of replacement Selim Amallah as he awaited the delivery of a set-piece also did not get another glance from officials, which angered the Moroccans.
Morocco, the first African and Arab nation to compete in a World Cup semifinal, was defeated 2-0 as a result of goals from left-back Hernandez and replacement Randal Kolo Muani.
