Mbappe surpasses Messi’s record as the youngest player to score 40 goals in the UCL.

Lionel Messi has been surpassed by Kylian Mbappe to become the youngest player to ever score 40 goals in the Champions League.

Mbappe accomplished the feat after hitting an incredible opening goal in Paris Saint-2-1 Germain’s victory against Juventus on Wednesday night.

And no one, not even Messi, the French superstar’s club teammate, has scored as many goals in the premier European league so young.

Mbappe outlived the Argentine by 179 days, or a total of almost six months, reaching the total at the age of 23 years and 316 days as opposed to 24 years and 130 days for the Argentine.

The 35-year-career old’s total of 129 is second only to Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo’s record haul of 140, so the former Monaco attacker still has a ways to go to come up.

Mbappe is now ranked 19th all-time, but he is just six goals behind Eusebio and Filippo Inzaghi, who are currently ranked 12th. By the conclusion of this year’s campaign, he may overtake their total.

With 18 goals in only 18 games in all competitions, he is in exceptional scoring form and it may be his most productive season ever.

At Juventus Stadium, Mbappe once again shown his skill against the Italian powerhouses by evading defender Federico Gatti, cutting inside a diving Manuel Locatelli, and sending a beautiful shot against the post and into the far corner.
