Kimpembe is OUT of the World Cup

Presnel Kimpembe (27), who was first chosen in Didier Deschamps’ World Cup roster, has been dropped and Axel Disasi of AS Monaco has taken his place (24).

On Sunday, employees of France watched Paris Saint-Germain play Auxerre at the Parc des Princes. Although the official purpose for their visit was not made public, it was assumed that they were there to assess Kimpembe’s fitness since, previous to Sunday’s game, he had only played 59 minutes of football since September 18.

The center-back entered the game in the last 15 minutes of PSG’s 5-0 victory, but according to a message from the official France Twitter account, he has not fully healed from his injury and will not play in the World Cup in Qatar. Following discussions between Kimpembe and the France team doctor and subsequently between the player and Deschamps, the choice was made on Monday morning in Clairefontaine.
