Barcelona declares a new accord exploring the cryptocurrency sector.

Barcelona’s most recent sponsorship deal, which was made public on Tuesday morning, expands into the bitcoin industry.

After their contract with Beko expired, the Blaugrana were in talks with a cryptocurrency company about becoming a sponsor and having their logo appear on the shirt sleeve of their uniform, but they ultimately determined that cryptocurrency was probably not ready to be mainstreamed to that level.

They have now disclosed a three-year arrangement with WhiteBIT, a cryptocurrency company founded in Ukraine in 2018. In accordance with the agreement, the two will collaborate to promote their respective businesses on the internet, in eSports, and at Camp Nou/Estadi Lluis Companys.

The official statement goes into great detail on WhiteBIT’s dependability and how it claims to be the most secure cryptocurrency available. The erratic nature of cryptocurrencies has drawn criticism, particularly in the wake of FTX’s collapse, which cost investors hundreds of millions of dollars.

Barcelona has already worked with the blockchain industry and has a contract with the fan token startup Chiliz. Barcelona may have a little bit more financial flexibility as a result of the arrangement, but they will still be subject to the same turbulence. The Miami Heat of the NBA are now looking for a new arrangement after accepting naming sponsorship from FTX for their stadium.
