Against Leeds, Haaland Explains Why He Did Not Celebrate His Goals

Erling Haaland, a striker for Manchester City, has said that he did not celebrate scoring two goals against Leeds United because he has “respect” for the team due to his birthplace.

Haaland scored twice as City defeated Leeds 3-1, giving him 20 goals for the year.

His first was a straightforward tap-in after Jack Grealish robbed Robin Koch of the ball.

Grealish also set up Haaland’s second goal, which the Norwegian attacker scored with his weaker right foot after playing a one-two with him.

Haaland, who was born in Leeds in 2000, opted to celebrate both goals subduedly.

He said to VG:

It was prearranged. I had no desire to rejoice. Since I was born in Leeds, I admire the team.

Dad and Mom were at the stadium. That is unique. I used to wear a Leeds jersey with Eirik Bakke’s name on the back and a City jersey with my dad’s name.
