“Christopher Nkunku commits to a deal with Chelsea till 2028”

According to reports, Chelsea and RB Leipzig attacker Christopher Nkunku have reached a long-term agreement that will last until the summer of 2028.

After tallying an astounding 35 goals and 20 assists in 52 games for Die Roten Bullen in the 2021–22 season, the France international was rumored to have attracted the interest of several top European clubs.

Nkunku, 25, pledged his future to Leipzig with a new contract that runs through the summer of 2026, despite interest from Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United.

Nkunku has continued his impressive goal-scoring form in the 2022–23 season, scoring 17 goals and dishing out four assists in 23 appearances. Earlier in the fall, it was reported that Nkunku had already undergone a medical with Chelsea in preparation for a move in 2023.

A move for the Frenchman is reportedly being hijacked by teams like Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Madrid, but Chelsea is reportedly confident that a deal will be completed.

Nkunku’s transfer to Stamford Bridge is a “done deal,” and the former starlet of Paris Saint-Germain will finalize his move to the Premier League in July, according to journalist Nicolo Schira.

Nkunku’s deal with Graham Potter’s team will last through the end of the 2027–28 campaign, and Leipzig will pay a fee of €70 million (£60 million), according to Schira.

Nkunku was selected for the France team to compete in the 2022 World Cup, but he was forced to withdraw from the competition after suffering a serious knee injury during training before Les Bleus left for Qatar.

Although Leipzig has not given a timetable for the attacker’s recovery, the injury is expected to keep the attacker out of action for at least another four weeks and possibly as many as six. This is not expected to stop the attacker from moving to West London, however.

Nkunku played for PSG from 2010 to 2019 before switching to Leipzig, where he has scored 64 goals and assisted 51 times in 159 games and won the DFB-Pokal last season with Die Roten Bullen.
