A gun and two cartridge found on a passenger

The spokesperson of the Delta state police command, DSP Bright Edafe, has harped on the importance of the ‘’stop and search’ operation carried out by police officers.

In a post shared on his X handle, Edafe said although the exercise might be inconveniencing, it has helped in fishing out criminal minds in society, He stated this while announcing the arrest of a suspected criminal who was found with a cut-to-size gun and two cartridges on him.

Posting photos of the suspect and the weapon found on him, Edafe wrote;

‘’Stop and search is very important, pls be patient with us. Kindly read this and understand why!!!

I got a call from a distress caller that they were on a commercial vehicle coming to Asaba, but the Police stopped them at Kwale and searched all the passengers, he said he didn’t know what they saw with one of them, and that after seeing that thing, the policemen took all of them to the station. I asked that he give the policemen the phone, guess what was found with one of the passengers? A cut-to-size gun, and two live cartridges concealed inside a bag containing smoked fish. He was detained and other passengers were allowed to go. You can see that stop and search is so important, I quite agree that it may inconvenience passengers, but pls always be patient and cooperate with the Police.”
