Two gunrunners are stopped by police in Zamfara, and they find weapons.

On Sunday, Zamfara police arrested two gunrunners who were trying to transport weapons to terrorist camps along the Anka-Gummi Highway.

According to SP Muhammad Shehu, the state’s police spokesperson, the gunrunners were bringing the high-tech weapons and ammunition from Taraba.

He also said that the suspects’ Toyota Corolla car had been found.

Three live Rocket Propeller Gun bullets, three bombs, 151 live rounds for AK-47 rifles, 200 live rounds for anti-aircraft guns, and other charms were all present in the vehicle.

In a lengthy gunfight that lasted for hours on January 7, police tactical operators effectively neutralized two gunrunners on Gummi-Anka Road.

“The operation was carried out in response to intelligence reports concerning the passage of suspects in a Toyota Corolla carrying weapons from Taraba to a terrorist camp in Zamfara.

“Two of the suspects sustained death injuries, while others may have suffered bullet wounds and fled into the jungle.

Suspects who were injured were brought to Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital in Gusau, where a doctor subsequently pronounced them dead.

The agents’ on-the-spot investigation resulted in the seizure of the weapons and ammo.

Joint police/vigilante operators were also sent to the area for a thorough confidence-building patrol with the goal of catching the fleeing individuals, according to Shehu.

He cited Mr. Kolo Yusuf, the state’s commissioner of police, who assured of police’s resolve to ridding Zamfara of terrorists and other criminals.
