Teens Saved By Police From Prostitution

Three young girls who were reportedly taken to Lagos from Akwa Ibom State for prostitution have been rescued by members of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command.

This was said in a statement released yesterday by Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s public relations officer.

“On January 8, 2023, at about 0600 hours, a patrol squad detected the girls’ odd activities in the region and freed them. The females confessed that they had been taken from Akwa Ibom to Lagos under the pretense of work by a mistress, who was holding them captive. The three kids, Saviour, 14, Bright, 13, and Deborah, 12, were found and saved in the Itamaga neighborhood of Ikorodu, Lagos State.

According to reports, the girls’ mistress starved them for days in order to make them accept the job.

When questioned, the girls admitted that they were escaping a mistress’s custody after being transported from Akwa Ibom to Lagos on the pretense of work.

“They were starved for days at a hotel by their mistress, who is still at large, in order to compel them to accept prostitution…

“Contact with the relatives of the victims has been established.”

The victims have been sent to the Gender Unit of the Lagos State Command for further investigation by the Commander, RRS, CSP Saheed Olayinka Egbeyemi, in accordance with CP Abiodun Alabi’s direction.
