Supporters Of Tinubu Warn Peter Obi And Atiku

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, presidential candidates for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP), were warned yesterday in Abuja against intimidating and harassing the judiciary and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over their defeat in the recently held presidential election by a large group of protesters operating under the banner of The Natives.

The group, led by Mr. Smart Edwards, urged the pair and their supporters to trust the court rather than pose a danger to democratic government.

The organization would no longer tolerate intimidation from Peter Obi’s (Obidients) and Atiku Abubakar’s followers, together with those of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Tinubu (Artilators).

On Monday, the demonstration that included members of the National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) and other young organizations momentarily stopped all traffic from the Federal Secretariat to the Presidential House.

“Your Excellency, it is your turn to test the court and not to scare the court,” Edward said in his speech. “We also have a message for the PDP candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. If your party is not sick of you yet, it is time for you to resign, withdraw, and then restart your campaign.

“Your inconsistency in a party like Bola Ahmed Tinubu demonstrates that it is all about you and you alone. No, sir; the Supreme Court, the Appeal Court, and even the Tribunal are not about you; they are about the rule of law.

Hence, we are putting the nation on notice today that we will not tolerate any more intimidation of the Nigerian judicial system. The judiciary, including these justices, is the cornerstone of the democracy’s promise.

“We want to state unequivocally that APC candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu won the poll. The fact that he lost the Lagos state should have been taboo, but the Democrat in him openly accepted the result without demanding revenge.

No election anywhere in the world is free of itch, The Native’s supreme leader stated while praising INEC for a job well done.

He said that certain PDP members unsuccessfully attempted to bribe INEC officials.

“INEC must be let to operate without being harassed. The PDP players’ recently-viralized recordings of their conversations in which they discussed their plans to intimidate or bribe INEC officials are not being discussed.

“Thus, you did well in the eyes of INEC. We hope that Saturday’s gubernatorial election will see a strong turnout rather than the low participation we had during the presidential election, so please proceed as planned.

The organization also praised President Muhammadu Buhari for enabling the election that resulted in Bola Tinubu, the new president, to be free, fair, and credible.

Edwards urged all Nigerians to give President-elect Tinubu a chance to restructure the nation in a manner that would benefit everyone while also pleading for collaboration to advance Nigeria.
