Saturday’s Election Marked A Turning Point For Nigeria’s Democracy—adeleke

The impending general elections on February 25 have been hailed by Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke as a turning point in the country’s political evolution.

This was said by Adeleke on Friday in Osogbo in a statement that was corroborated by Malam Olawale Rasheed, his spokesman.

Adeleke consequently urged each and every eligible person to actively take part in the exercise, which he said will play a significant role in determining the destiny of the country.

The general election is taking place, and it is our patriotic responsibility to actively participate in the campaigning.

“Your vote gives you power and is your ticket to ensuring that there is effective government for both you and the next generation. Today has been designated a public holiday by our government.

The governor instructed all eligible voters to be ready for tomorrow’s historic elections by picking up their voting cards.

According to Adeleke, the electoral authorities have created an atmosphere that makes it possible to hold free and fair elections.

He claims that in order to safeguard people while they exercise their constitutional rights, security services have also been activated.

“Please allow me to caution against electoral violence using this media. Security organizations are under severe orders to crack down on criminals and other violent elements.

I’ve also told military commanders to detain criminals wherever they may be. This election must be conducted in a calm environment. Democracy is not about murdering and maiming; it is about choosing.

“As advocates and supporters of democracy, I implore all of us to make Osun state the most tranquil throughout this election and thereafter.

Adeleke said, “We are peace-loving people and we must stay such, now and always.”
