Peter Obi Postpones Campaign Appearances And Goes To Court With Attorneys

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, has said he would not participate in the campaigning for governor and state assembly positions in the elections scheduled for Saturday, March 11.

Obi tweeted on Wednesday that he needed to be in Abuja with attorneys.

The Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), which INEC utilized to hold the 2023 presidential election, is being modified. But, Obi filed a suit asking the court to halt INEC from reconfiguring BVAS.

I’m scheduled to start our nonstop campaign today for our different Labour Party candidates for governor and state assembly, Obi tweeted. “At first, I had planned to go to places like Nasarawa, Lagos, Enugu, Abia, the Delta, Edo, the Rivers, the Plateau, Borno, etc.

But, I am personally traveling to the Court today with our attorneys since INEC refused to let our party to check the documents (including BVAS) from the 25th February presidential elections.

Obi, however, asked the party members to vigorously back their candidates.

I urge all OBIdients in the various states to continue advocating for our candidates, including Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour in Lagos, Chijoke Edeoga in Enugu, Patrick Dakum in Plateau, Alex Otti in Abia, Ken Pela in Delta, and Ibrahim Mshelia in Borno, to name a few, as we pursue due process and adhere to the rule of law. Voting for candidates who possess these qualities—competence, character, capacity, and compassion—is also essential.

“I’m still dedicated, and I’ll focus more on our quest to get back our mandate. Nigeria’s rebirth is conceivable!

Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a member of the governing party, was proclaimed the winner of the presidential election by INEC.

According to INEC, Tinubu received 8,794,726 votes, beating out Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, who received 6,984,520.

Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) finished in a distant fourth place with 1,496,687 votes, while Obi received 6,101,533 votes.
