No Plans To Sue The Fg, According To Huawei’s E-customs Project

The $304 million e-customs project was the subject of a media story that said Huawei Technologies, a global supplier of ICT infrastructure, has decided to challenge the Federal government in London over efforts by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to award the concession arrangement to another business.

One of the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) partners in the contentious $304 million e-Customs project is Huawei Technologies.

Huawei’s Director of Public Relations, Kelvin Yang, said in a statement yesterday that the company has no plans to sue the Nigerian government over the issue and that it is still committed to its long-term partnership with Nigeria and will keep looking for opportunities to support its technological development.

“Our attention has been called to a news report with the heading “$176b Revenue at Danger as Huawei tries to sue FG in London over $304M e-customs project,” published in ThisDay Newspaper on Monday, March 6, 2023,” stated the statement. It is important to note that the technical partner in the e-custom project is Huawei Technologies Nigeria Limited. Our responsibility as the technical partner is to provide the project with our technological know-how in order to enhance the digitization of the customs procedure. As a forerunner in global technology, Huawei has always been dedicated to collaborating with nations, corporations, and communities to promote innovation and sustainable development.

Yang stated that Huawei is committed to working with the Nigerian government and other partners in the nation to advance the digital transformation agenda and unlock new opportunities for economic growth and social development, and that the company believes technology can play a transformative role in improving people’s lives and helping countries achieve their development goals.

Huawei will continue to provide the public accurate and timely information as necessary and is still dedicated to openness and open communication with all of its stakeholders. When publishing news about Huawei or any other business, we encourage media outlets to take care and confirm their sources. False or misleading news may have major repercussions, including undermining a company’s image and its relationships with partners and clients. As part of Nigeria’s ongoing digital transformation, Huawei looks forward to working with the government of that nation in the future.
