Ngos Are Told To Leave By Zamfara
Because of suspected unlawful activities that it claims are escalating insecurity, the government of Zamfara State has ordered all non-governmental organizations (NGO) to leave the state.
Mamman Tsafe, the state’s commissioner for security and home affairs, released a statement on Tuesday that included the instruction.
In addition to failing to register with the state in line with laws and regulations, the commissioner said that some of these NGOs have been discovered participating in activities that contribute to instability in the state and its surroundings.
“It should also be highlighted that most of these unlawful NGOs have not registered with the state in accordance with established laws and regulations. According to Tsafe, several of them have also been discovered participating in actions that increase instability in the state and its surrounding areas.
In addition, he said that all government ministries and departments have been ordered to stop their current links with NGOs and that any MDAs discovered to be in such partnerships would face penalty.
The administration has now issued an order for all NGOs operating in the state to immediately pack up and depart. Governmental Ministries and Departments have been instructed to end all existing links with all NGOs since any MDAs discovered to be doing so would face sanctions.
Tsafe, however, ordered all state security organizations to remain watchful, look into, and take legal action against any NGOs functioning inside the state without authorization from the appropriate authorities.
