Inec Warns Party Agents That Using Pos Machines At Polling Places Is Not Permitted.

Party representatives or anybody associated with political parties are not permitted to bring Point of Sale (PoS) devices to polling places in Anambra State, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Elizabeth Agwu, made this statement at a news conference on Friday. She also prohibited anything that may be used to persuade voters to sell their votes.

According to our reports, during the presidential election, there were allegations of people using point-of-sale (PoS) technology to transfer money to voters in order to circumvent the federal government’s cashless policy, while some political parties used food-based inducements such as bags of wrappers, cartons of noodles, and other food items.

Agwu at the press conference said the commission was ready for the poll, adding that electoral materials had been transferred to all sections of the State.

Vote buying will not be accepted by the commission. We won’t let party representatives to bring POS devices or any other materials that could influence voters inside the polling places.

“We have 21 local governments, and we have carefully and methodically planned out how to distribute our materials, notably the ballots intended for the State Assembly elections, so that there won’t be a mix-up.

It is customary for us to transport our materials, especially the sensitive ones, to the local administrations before taking them to the RAC centers and ultimately the voting booths.

We guarantee that voting will have started at all polling places in the state by 8:30 am on Saturday. We have resolved all BVAS-related difficulties for the election, and we anticipate excellent performance,” Agwu said.
