Inec Annuls 11 Voting Units’ Results Because To Violence And Bvas

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has annulled the Saturday results from 11 polling places in Kogi due to violence and a Presiding Officer’s (PO) improper use of the BVAS.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), 10 voting places in the Ofu Local Government Area (LGA) had their results invalidated because of political thugs’ activities, while a polling place in the Yagba East LGA had its results invalidated because the presiding officer was incompetent.

When submitting the results to the State Collation Officer, Prof. Wahab Egbewale (SAN), Vice Chancellor, University of Ilorin, on Sunday, Dr. Alhassan Abdulrahaman, the Collation Officer for Yagba LGA, revealed cancellation in his region.

According to NAN, Abdulrahaman had just about concluded his presentation when Egbewale inquired about any results that had been annulled in the region. He responded positively.

“Well, sir, after the Presidential and National Assembly elections held last Saturday, we do have reason to void certain results in Yagba East Local Government.

“In Unit 006 of Ward 10, we are forced to annul the results for the simple reason that the PO was unable to use the BVAS that was provided to her for the exercise.

We attempted to assist her, but she was unable to take up, therefore it seems that she was not properly trained for the position. We were blown away.

The findings of that particular unit had to be cancelled at that moment, according to Abdulrahaman.

At the presentation of his findings, Prof. Abdullahi Musa-Yusuf, the collation officer (CO) for the Ofu LGA in Kogi, said that 10 units’ results had to be canceled owing to political thugs’ actions.

The poll in certain units was interrupted, according to Musa-Yusuf, who said that political thugs raided the affected units in the Itobe and Ayaji wards and packed away the voting materials.

He said that more than 6,600 votes had to be canceled in certain units.

According to NAN, the Prof. Egbewale-led team at the Kogi Situation Room/Collation Centre got results from 14 of Kogi’s 21 local government areas, including Bassa, Idah, Igalamela-Odolu, Umala, Okehi, and Olama-Boro.

Dekina, Adavi, and Ibaji LGAs were requested to go clean up and return on Monday to represent their results, which could not be tallied.
