In Kaduna, Thieves Murder Two And Kidnap Four Women.

According to reports, bandits have murdered Ibrahim Abdullahi, a local leader, and his nephew. In Kaduna State’s Unguwar Mai Awo village of Igabi Local Council, they also kidnapped four women.

Yesterday at his home, Abdullahi, a member of the Fityanul Islam First Aid Group’s Igabi branch, was slain with his nephew. DSP Muhammad Jalige, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), could not be contacted by phone to confirm the news.

However, a local named Nasir Idris said that the bandits entered the neighborhood at about 3.30 am, murdered the community head and his nephew, then went to another part of the neighborhood and kidnapped four women, among them a nursing mother.

When the bandits arrived at the hamlet, he said that they fired randomly to frighten the inhabitants away. He also stated that two other residents were hurt, but they were transported to the hospital for treatment.

Ibrahim Abdullahi, a prominent member of the community and the area’s chairman of the Fityanul Islam First Aid Association, and his nephew Zakari Yau were slaughtered by the bandits. The robbers also kidnapped four additional ladies from the neighborhood, one of which was a nursing mother, he claimed.

Terrorists from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) who had escaped from the Lake Chad region’s Kayowa and Toumbun Gini have turned themselves in to the Nigerien police at Tumour.

Following Boko Haram’s capture of the ISWAP strongholds in December, 10 fighters—including their cleric—surrendered. The fleeing ISWAP militants and the cleric turned themselves in to the Nigerien authorities on January 10, 2023, according to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency specialist in the Lake Chad area, who made the announcement yesterday in Maiduguri.

According to him, the surrender was not unrelated to the two terror organizations’ ongoing competition and worries that they would eventually be eliminated. He also said that several fighters lost their lives in December as a result of Boko Haram’s strikes on ISWAP strongholds.

Military sources in Maiduguri also revealed that Abu Moussab al-Barnawi and other leaders were forced to escape and surrender in the Niger Republic as a result of the relentless attack by Boko Haram, headed by Abu Umaimah, on critical ISWAP sites in four camps.

The insider said that despite multiple attempts by the terror organizations to band together against the Nigerian military and the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), “the ongoing rivalry between Boko Haram and ISWAP looks everlasting.” In light of this, Makama claimed, ISWAP soldiers were compelled to assist mercenaries from Mali, Burkina Faso, and Somalia.
