In Borno, Troops Kill The ISWAP Leader And 41 Other Fighters.

On the Dikwa-Ngala axis of Borno State, troops from Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) have neutralized Abu Zahra, the commander of the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP).

The Commander and other terrorists were killed during the coordinated operations, which were directed by General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1, Maj.-Gen. Shaibu Waidi.

Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency specialist in the Lake Chad area, said yesterday in Maiduguri that the commander was killed by ground forces during a deadly special operation.

According to Makama, the coordinated operation came after previous assaults by the Islamic group that left 36 fisherman dead in Mukdolo Village in the Ngala Local Council.

In the meanwhile, it was claimed that the commander had previously slain his deputy at Kajeri Dogumba village, Mafa Local Council, Borno State, in front of other warriors.

According to counter-insurgency specialist Makama Zagazola, Muhammad accused Darda of organizing the botched assault that cost them their lives and resulted in the military seizing their weapons trucks.

The commander reportedly expressed his deep sorrow for the deaths of several of his men, the burning of his food supplies, and some recently bought furnishings intended for his upcoming wedding.

The commander, according to the source, had promised to rally his troops in Kajeri Dogumba and Bula Yagana Aliye in the state’s Mafa Local Council.

“On March 19, 2023, the armed terrorists under the command of Abu Darda and Abu Muhammed also overran Mafa town.

“But, the military stopped the onslaught, killing a large number of terrorists and recovering two gun trucks.

As a result of the huge attack, the source said that the terrorists’ hideouts were raided for military equipment, including a pistol, three motorbikes, and numerous other weapons.
