Ekiti First Lady Celebrates Women’s Victories 6 Of 26 Congressional Seats

Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, the governor of Ekiti’s wife, on Monday extended congratulations to all of the elected members of the state’s House of Assembly, particularly the six female members.

Six of the 26 seats in the Ekiti House of Assembly were won by women at the conclusion of voting on March 18.

The governor’s wife expressed her satisfaction that there are six female members among the 26 elected officials and thanked the voters for their support, which, in her opinion, contributed to the impressive electoral triumph.

In order to increase the number of women in government, Oyebanji asked the people of Ekiti not to waver in their support for the Gov. Biodun Oyebanji-led administration.

Being the state with the most women in the House of Assembly, she pointed out that Ekiti will now be seen as a trailblazer and role model for other states.

Parallel to this, Mrs. Olubunmi Adelugba, Speaker of the House of Assembly, expressed happiness that more women were elected to the Assembly.

She saw the change as another manifestation of women’s empowerment.

“I am glad to see that there are more women lawmakers than ever before.

The 7th Assembly would be ideal, particularly now that there are more women, she remarked, since wherever there are women, there is sanity. This is something I often tell my returning colleagues.

Mrs. Bose Olowookere (APC-Efon), Mrs. Iyabo Fakunle-Okiemeh (APC-Ilejemeje), and Mrs. Mariam Ogunlade are the six elected female members of the Assembly (APC-Emure).

Princess Teju Okuyiga (APC-Gbonyin), Mrs. Bolaji Olagbaju (APC-Ado II), and Mrs. Abimbola Solanke are also there (APC-Moba).

Each of the elected female members expressed gratitude to the governor’s wife and all the ladies of Ekiti for their support and encouragement before, during, and after the elections.

They pledged to keep their word and not let down the ladies and citizens of the state in order to live up to the trust placed in them.

They demanded more support for the Oyebanji-led government and the forthcoming 7th Assembly.
