Chinese Ambassador Fees Nigeria Will Encourage Girls’ Education

She pointed out that enacting and amending legislation to defend women’s rights is one of the processes that ensure gender equality in China. She said that as China’s top legislative body, the National People’s Congress (NPC) placed a strong emphasis on preserving women’s rights and fostering their advancement.

“Many pertinent entities, including the Women & Children Working Group, have been established inside the NPC throughout time for these goals. The NPC monitors the implementation of legislation defending women’s rights and other important laws, gathers comments from the Women’s Federation and women during legislative review and legal supervision, and takes effective steps to uphold women’s legal rights.

“The development and enhancement of a functional system by the government

The National Working Committee on Children and Women under State Council was founded in 1993 after its predecessor, the National Coordinating Committee on Children and Women under State Council, had been disbanded.

“This committee now has 35 members, up from 19 when it was first formed (government agencies). By organizing, coordinating, advising, and directing pertinent departments in their work of defending women’s rights, promoting gender equality, and advancing women, this committee fulfills its legislative obligations.

“Building and strengthening a functioning structure for women’s federations

The All-China Women’s Federation is a group that was founded by women from various ethnic backgrounds and social circles in an effort to enhance the emancipation and advancement of women.

The ambassador stressed the importance of women in socioeconomic development while discussing the advancement of the cause of women in China.

She asserted that women had actively participated in and profited much from the struggle against poverty, describing them as essential builders of the nation.

Enhancing labor protection would encourage women employees to perform better, she said.

She claims that in China, women make up 40% of the labor force.

“There were 340 million women working in 2017, which is twice as many as there were in 1978. Job opportunities for women have considerably increased. In the secondary and tertiary sectors in 2010, 46.8% of women were employed, an increase of 24.8 percentage points since 1982.

Huili said that since the nation has prioritized securing women’s equal political rights with males, women’s political stature has increased dramatically.

“From the founding of New China, the state has drafted and put into effect legislation to ensure that women have an equal opportunity to vote, be elected, and take part in governing the country.
