Addressing The SFH Retreat In Lagos Will Be Health Commissioners And Others.

Prof. Akin Abayomi, the commissioner for health for Lagos State, Dr. Oyebanji Filani, the CEO of the Nigeria Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), and Dr. Faisal Shuaib are among the technocrats who will speak at the Society for Family Health (SFH) international retreat, which begins today in Lagos.

Prof. Ekanem Braide, president of the SFH Board, declared yesterday that the retreat signals the end of the implementation of the SFH strategic plan, Facilitating People-Centred Healthcare (FPCH), and the beginning of the creation of a new plan for the next generation, which will serve as the foundation for the organization’s operations.

The retreat, he said, also gave participants the chance to “stop, think, unlearn, learn, and re-ignite our collective purpose to do the task we have begun.”

SFH takes pride in having made a significant contribution to Nigeria’s progress in the health sector over the past 40 years, including the decreases in infant and maternal mortality rates from 132 per 1,000 in 1985 to 54 per 1,000 in 2022, and from 1,000 per 100,000 live births in 1985 to 512 per 100,000 in 2021.
