200 CBN Agents Are Stationed In Jigawa.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has hired 200 agents to expedite its cash swap strategy in Jigawa only three days before the deadline of January 31 for old naira exchange.

As part of its intentions to phase out old naira notes and increase collection of new bank notes, the CBN began a currency exchange scheme in rural areas on Monday.

The campaign is being carried out by Deposit Money Banks and CBN official monitors (DMBs).

This was mentioned during a press conference held on Saturday in Dutse by Hajiya Amina Habib, director of human resources at CBN Headquarters.

The amount above N10,000 will be classified as deposits, she said, adding that the daily cash swap maximum is N10,000 and transfer per head.

She said that the gesture was made to spread the newly designed naira notes more widely, particularly in rural regions.

We employ 200 agents in Jigawa State because we have seen that there are unbanked populations in rural regions where banks do not have physical locations, necessitating the necessity for agent banking services.

“The agents are essentially the banks’ representatives in such villages, giving the people financial services like creating accounts and taking money on their behalf so that the rural residents may deposit or withdraw money.

According to the comments we’re receiving, we’re having a significant influence in the rural regions, and our personnel and super agents are spread out over the state to keep an eye on the issue and make sure the new naira notes are being circulated, she added.
