Why Nigerian poverty is increasing, by PENGASSAN

According to the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), political leadership irresponsibility is a major factor contributing to Nigeria’s growing poverty.

Festus Osifo, the association’s president, pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that Nigerians have a fair election in 2023 during yesterday’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja.

Osifo argued persuasively for the use of the BVAS (Bimodal Voter Accreditation System) for the elections and asked INEC to prevent any fraud.

In order to ensure Nigerians that the general elections in 2023 will be credible, free, and fair, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security organizations, and other important players in the electoral process should take use of this opportunity. If we genuinely want elections that will endure the test of time, we shouldn’t play with with the issues involving the usage of technological devices like BVAS, according to Osifo.

Because of the procedure that produced them, the PENGASSAN director advised Nigerians to keep a careful eye on the four freshly sworn-in Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs).

PENGASSAN criticized elected officials who take joy in causing the proletariat social and economic suffering in relation to the relationship between elections, political office holders, good administration, and the country’s growing poverty status.
