VC urges FG to address regulating higher education

Prof. Samuel Oye Bandele, vice chancellor of Anchor University in Lagos, has stated that in order to advance education, the Federal Government must grant various regulatory bodies the freedom to appropriately oversee higher education across the nation.

Bandele urged the Federal Government to fulfill its obligations when he said this yesterday at a media briefing for the institution’s joint second and third convocation ceremonies scheduled for Friday, December 9, 2022.

He said that the government need to arm all oversight groups for education and provide them some degree of autonomy so that they may demonstrate their worth.

According to the VC, Anchor University is on track to provide teaching-learning methods that are acceptable around the world in the twenty-first century. He said that since the institution was ascending to new heights, it had set out a course for glory in order to accomplish its objectives.

According to the new strategy, the university, which is based on the Christian faith, will emphasize love to students and win the hearts of troubled youths under his leadership.

He encouraged students to benefit from the new strategy while admonishing them against engaging in criminal activity such as cultism, drug abuse, and criminality.

In addition, Bandele exhorted pupils to have prosperous lifestyles as they go up the employment ladder. He counseled them to work wisely, with goals, evaluation, accountability, and wisdom, noting that there is no short cut to success.

He also gave other colleges the advice to make every attempt to instill the value of hard work in their students’ minds.

He said that they want the institution to remain distinctive because they think that if it maintains its distinctiveness, it would expand and gain notoriety.

Therefore, he said, “Our niche is to pursue everything we want to do through the glory lane of our core values, character, competence, and courage.”
