The first day of PVC collection is December 12 – INEC

People who registered to vote ahead of the general elections in 2023 will be able to pick up their Permanent Voters Cards starting on December 12, 2022, the independent National Electoral Commission announced on Friday.

The Commission met on December 1, 2022, according to the statement, and discussed a number of topics, including when to collect Permanent Voters Cards across the country.

Festus Okoye, the commissioner responsible for voter education, is quoted in the statement as saying, “Therefore, the Commission has fixed Monday, December 12, 2022, to Sunday, January 22, 2023, as the dates for the collection of PVCs in all 774 Local Government Offices throughout the Federation.

Additionally, the Commission decided to delegate PVC collection to the 8,809 Registration Areas/Wards from January 6 through 15, 2023.

The Registration Areas/Electoral Wards are available to those who are unable to pick up their PVCs at the Local Government Offices of the Commission. The exercise will return to the Local Government Offices of the Commission starting on January 15 and running through January 22, 2023.

“All eligible and legitimate registrants may pick up their PVCs from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm every day, including weekends.

“All the RECs and Electoral Officers have been directed to call a meeting with the key stakeholders in their States and Local Government Areas, including traditional and religious leaders, civil society organizations, community-based organizations, and the media to brief them on the procedures for collecting PVCs in order to educate the public and ensure a smooth election process.

“In a similar manner, RECs and EOs have been instructed to establish help desks to assist registrants with complaints regarding their PVCs or with the PVC collection procedure for prompt redress.

The Commission is grateful to Nigerians for their patience and understanding, especially those who registered to vote or requested transfers or replacements of their identification cards between January and July 2022. The Commission is working to make sure that the process is straightforward and trouble-free for Nigerians as it makes the cards available for collection.
